Current plans for the Foam Lake Marsh Birding Trail project include a small scale of the original Foam Lake school, built by Icelanders, and some way to mark the spot where the Icelandic kids on the west side of Foam Lake sailed across to school. The two main trails will be called Vatnabyggd and the third smaller trail will also have an Icelandic name. The marsh project is part of a much larger Caplin/Quill Lakes Birding Trails project which has been in the works for several years.

Our pioneer memorial has won the regional award and is now in the running for the provincial heritage award through the Quill Plains Recreational Association. Their AGM is in October.

We have official highway signage calling travellers' attention to our pioneer monument on Highway 16 and Highway 5, all four directions, approaching Elfros.
