The Ottawa Thorrablot was held on Saturday, February 7 at a Legion Hall on Kent Street in Ottawa. Ambassador Sigridur Thordardottir opened the evening with a welcome to the more than 80 participants, and later, with her husband Jon Thorsteinsson, sang a lovely duet. A group of Icelandic visitors to Canada and our members who spoke Icelandic formed a choir and sang a number of well-known Icelandic songs for the rest of us. We had a potluck dinner of outstanding Icelandic and Canadian food, and an arts and crafts display by 7 of our very talented members. We held a raffle of a number of Icelandic books. A good time was had by all.

The Icelandic American Association of Minnesota has posted information on our website about the death of our Icelandic author, Bill Holm. One can visit the INL web site and go to our chapter for more information.
Bill was a big man that made an impression wherever he went. Everyone knew that he was Icelandic. His heritage was always referenced in his many writings.
We encourage people to write their memories of Bill and sending them to me or to IcelandMN@gmail.com. We will be gathering them and sharing them with Marcy, his wife.
If anyone is interested in sending memorials, there is information on the web site.
