Carving a Loon

Einar Vigfusson is seen here starting a large and challenging piece of bird sculpture in his Arborg, Manitoba studio. With careful study and skilled carving, Einar finally releases the bird from its bass wood block.

Einar's carvings are very life-like and have won numerous "First Place" awards in juried competitions all across North America.

He has just returned this month from teaching a second carving class in Iceland. Einar may go back again in a year to teach yet another class.
