Happy Spring !

Welcome to our 16th program in this internet radio series. It's the Old Icelandic calendar months of "Harpa & Skerpla".

In this show we visit with award-winning bird carver, Einar Vigfusson and his wife, Rosalind, conductor of the New Iceland Youth Choir from Arborg, Manitoba.

NEWS UPDATE: Congratulations to Rosalind for having been chosen to be the Fjallkona for the 2007 Íslendingadagurinn in Gimli, Manitoba.

We were fortunate enough to have them visit our West Coast in the Fall of last year and chat with Pat Peacock. Incidentally, Pat's daughter Jennifer is married to the Vigfusson's son, so it was an occassion for a family get-together as well. The charming interviews took place at the home of our program's producer Robert Asgeirsson in White Rock, BC.

The discussions reveal how Einar began carving and also how he relates to his wonderful subject matter. Also included are some personal anecdotes and observations about the art of carving. Rosalind recalls some precious memories of her youth choirs. We hear about the creation of the first New Iceland Youth Choir and just what motivates her to work at teaching music to young people. Three songs from their first CD appear in the program as well as a glimpse of her future plans and that of the current choir.

Enjoy the show. Please tell your family and friends about it.
