"Program # 9.mp3

Welcome to our 9th program in the series. It's the month of "Heyannir" in the Old Icelandic Calendar
- a time for haymaking and it's also the time known as the dog days of summer. Gus explains some of the curious details these about overlapping periods.

Show Line up:
Item # 1 - Sigrún Halla Guðnadóttir is interviewed by Karen Vopnfjord about the difficulties of teaching Icelandic to immigrant families and the stunning drop out rate in their schools that they are facing.
Item # 2 - The Hverageði Choir performs in Burnaby, B.C. for the local Icelandic and Scandinavian communities. (Three songs and a short interview.)
Item # 3 - The Icelandic Club of Greater Seattle is visited by the INL of NA's Good-Will Ambassadors, Len & Karen Vopnfjord. This is part 1 of a 4 part series where Len & Karen visited with some of the western US Icelandic Clubs and organizations.

We hope that you enjoy the show.
